07.27.2010 - Book Binding, Make a journal in 2 days!
Join Barb Sanders in making a finished blank journal to record your precious summer journeys or to give away to someone special. 6 to 8 students will learn the basics of paper, folding, cutting, pasting, and book structure. No prior experience is needed. We will see samples of beautiful papers and learn to understand the pros and cons of each. Barb will bring some handmade books from her collection.
Students only need to bring sharp scissors, pencil, ruler, and Exacto™ knife (if they have one). Bring lunch or grab a slice of Pizza from next door – we’ll break so our papers stay clean! Students will have their own copy of instructions and lists of suppliers, resources and catalogues enabling them to make additional books in the future.
Due to sharp knives and needles, this work shop is not for children. Sign up with a friend for spare helping hands! This is an opportunity to understand and appreciate the beauty of the hand-bound book.

01.25.2008 - Business of the Year
The Organizational Committee of MainStreet Steamboat honored AGS the Business of the Year Award for 2007.

"For the collaborative venture of the owner/artists to enhance the art presence in downtown Steamboat and for helping initiate the First Friday Art Walk events."

It was a unanimous choice for the MainStreet members. The contributing factors included getting the gallery set up, bringing together diverse, creative, and independent thinkers and the Gallery’s creation of First Friday’s Steamboat. It was the gallery's tenacity and "just do it" attitude that was the deciding factor. The collaborative efforts of the owner-artists at AGS enhance the art presence in downtown Steamboat.

According to the MainStreet Director, Tracy Barnett, “The Artists’ Gallery has created a reason for people to come downtown. (AGS) also adds a wonderful local element to the many commercial products available throughout the downtown. What you have in the gallery is unique, destination shopping.” MainStreet Steamboat promotes the vitality and charm of the downtown community through collaborative efforts of its member businesses. Downtown Steamboat Springs is the heart of an authentic western community where ranchers, skiers and artists all gather at the same table.
